I offer individual therapy for motivated adolescents age 16 through adults. My specialty areas include anxiety disorders, OCD, and co-occurring depression, as well as life transitions. It is important when engaging in therapy that you are matched with a clinician who is skilled in your area of concern as well as a good fit for you in terms of personality. Therefore, I often recommend a short initial phone consultation to determine suitability for services. If it is determined that we may be a good fit, we will discuss scheduling an intake session, where I will complete a full assessment and make recommendations for therapy. If it is determined either in the phone consultation or at the in-person interview that we aren't a mutual good fit, I will provide you with recommendations for other therapists in the area who may be able to assist you.

It has been my experience in working with adolescents over the years that if they perceive that they are being "dragged" to therapy by parents it seldom results in good therapeutic outcomes. Sometimes teens warm up to the idea of therapy after meeting the clinician, and other times they see the clinician as an extension of their parents' authority, which can make it difficult, if not impossible, to move forward. When considering therapy for your teen, please have an open discussion with them about your concerns and try to gauge their willingness for help before showing up for your first appointment. The outcome is often much better (and less stressful) when everyone is on board with the plan.

Therapy involves sharing parts of ourselves that we often don't share with those closest to us. My approach is based first and foremost on building trust and openness with each client.  This is done at the clients' own pace, and may take one or several sessions depending on the clients level of comfort. Skipping this step would be short-changing the therapeutic relationship and may translate into less than optimal outcomes.

The therapeutic treatment plan that I use is customized to each patient and often involves pulling from one or more evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This will be determined during the initial consultation based on presenting concerns. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the treatment plan at that time.

With the exception of Blue Care Network and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, my practice is fee for service and the rate is $150.00 per 55 minute session.

For those without BCN or BCBS, most plans will cover my services through direct reimbursement to you. Please contact your insurance provider by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking about reimbursement rates for an "out of network mental health/behavioral health provider". Please contact your insurance company for information about reimbursement rates and processes prior to your first appointment.

**Please check with your insurance company to verify benefits and eligibility for mental health services before scheduling an initial session. Thank you.**

In the event that you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, I ask that you give me the courtesy of at least 48 hours notice. I have reserved this time for you and would like the opportunity to offer your cancelled appointment time to other clients who may be waiting. No Shows, or not giving any notice to the provider, as well as same day cancellations, will result in a $75 No Show/Late Cancel Fee which will be added to the cost of your next appointment and is charged separately from insurance. The decision to terminate services as a result of repeated late cancellations or No Shows will be up to the provider's discretion and will be determined on a case by case basis.
