I offer individual therapy for adults ages 18 and up who are independently seeking support. My specialty areas include Anxiety disorders and OCD, as well as life transitions, including college, career change, pregnancy, and new motherhood.
Goodness of Fit
It is important when engaging in therapy that you are matched with a clinician who is skilled in your area of concern as well as a good fit for you in terms of personality. Therefore, I often recommend a short initial phone consultation to determine suitability for services. If it is determined that we aren't a mutual good fit, I will provide you with recommendations for other therapists in the area who may be able to assist you.
Therapy involves sharing parts of ourselves that we often don't share with those closest to us. My approach is based first and foremost on building trust and openness with each client. This is done at the clients' own pace, and may take one or several sessions depending on the clients level of comfort. Skipping this step would be short-changing the therapeutic relationship and may translate into less than optimal outcomes.
The therapeutic treatment plan that I use is customized to each patient and often involves pulling from one or more evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and/or Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This will be determined during the initial consultation based on presenting concerns. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the treatment plan at that time.
In the event that you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, I ask that you give me the courtesy of at least 48 hours notice. No Shows, or not giving any notice to the provider, as well as same day cancellations, will result in a $75 No Show/Late Cancel Fee which is the responsibility of the client to pay. The decision to terminate services as a result of repeated late cancellations or No Shows will be up to the provider's discretion and will be determined on a case by case basis.
